The SUP Events We're Staying Optimistic About in 2020

Like everyone else, we’re closely watching as the coronavirus pandemic unfolds in communities near and far. We’re watching events get cancelled, trips postponed, and lives put on hold or worse, completely uprooted. We’re lucky that, for the time being at least, our lives haven’t been impacted in a significant way. We hope that won’t change and expect what’s more likely is an increase in minor nuisances and disappointment as more plans are forced to change.

That being said, we’re currently channeling an optimistic outlook and looking forward to the upcoming SUP season, especially as spring is waiting just around the corner. We’re planning a (social distancing appropriate) paddle on March 22 to see the famous DC cherry blossom trees. And soon we’ll be headed south to Wrightsville Beach for the Carolina Cup 10th anniversary. (Or just a beach vacation - we’ll find out.) So, in the interest of spreading some positive vibes and SUP stoke, we’re revisiting the (mostly local) races we’re looking forward to this season. To learn more about each and why we love them so much, take a peek at this previous blog post.

And the big mamajama on the list this year:

That’s right, for some reason we were convinced to register for this 31 mile SUP race again, despite the tough conditions we faced in 2016.

We don’t know what the future has in store for any of the activities we’re looking forward to. But as long as we have each other, our boards, and this community, we’re going to look at the bright side of life. What are the things (race, trips, events, etc.) you’re staying optimistic about?
